Presidential Proclamation – Fire Prevention Week 2011

On Sunday, October 16, 2011, in accordance with Public Law 107.51, the flag of the United States will be flown at half staff on all Federal office buildings in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Services. I call on all Americans to participate in this observance with appropriate programs and activities and by renewing their efforts to prevent fires and their tragic consequences.
This neighborhood association and the Arlington Police Department would like to thank all of the firefighters who risk their lives for us on a daily basis. We appreciate all that you do!

Neighborhood Garage Sale for Summergrove and Kennilworth area...

A "Neighborhood Garage Sale" is scheduled for this weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 14, and 15th.  Each neighbor that would like to participate needs to sign up for their own "Garage Sale Permitt" through the City of Arlington.gov. We will put out signs starting Wednesday to include the neighbors.  This is for individual Garage Sales, not a group charity thing.  Just a great opportunity to clear out the attic, shovel out the garage and just clean house,  smile...... and enjoy.

Proposed 10 TX Constitutional Amendments...vote Tuesday Nov 8th

Texas House of RepresentativesRepresentative Bill ZedlerDistrict 96 Dear Friends, I would like to personally thank each of you for the privilege of serving as your State Representative. Working for the citizens of Arlington, Burleson, Crowley, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Kennedale and Mansfield is an honor, but more importantly, it is a responsibility which I take very seriously. This session, the legislature proposed 10 amendments to the Texas Constitution. These amendments deal with diverse issues such as ad valorem taxes, deferred adjudication, student loan financing, and the development or redevelopment of unproductive, underdeveloped, or blighted areas. On Tuesday, November 8, 2011, you will have the opportunity to go to the polls and vote on these amendments. Each amendment must receive a majority of votes cast statewide to be approved. For your convenience, listed below are details regarding how the election will work in Tarrant County and a brief synopsis of each of the 10 proposed amendments. I hope that you will find this overview informative and helpful. For additional information regarding these proposed Constitutional Amendments prepared by the Texas Legislative Council, please visit: www.tlc.state.tx.us/pubsconamend/analyses11/analyses11.pdf It is an honor to represent you in the Texas House of Representatives. If I may be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. God bless the great state of Texas! Bill ZedlerState RepresentativeDistrict 96

Crime Watch and National Night Out Tuesday Oct 4th...Thanks...

Dear NNO participant and valued Citizen of Arlington TX,

Thank you for participating Tuesday 10/4/11…

2011 will be the third year the State of Texas celebrates National Night Out in the month of October. Over-all the transition from triple digit weather in August to nice cool fall weather in October has been brilliant. As some of you may recall there was some very brief showers in 2009 but in 2010 we had a high of 78 F which made for a near perfect night to be outside.
Tight knit communities are a proven crime deterrent. Strong communities enjoy a good quality of life from neighbor to neighbor.

Well a lot of hard work went into this year’s National Night Out. Each of you who participated and organized did an amazing job. I saw it with my own eyes and received a lot of positive feedback.
After speaking to several of you last night I thought I’d share some thoughts to keep with you when planning for next year.
I think it is very important to keep the purpose of National Night out in perspective.
The Arlington Police Department has a community based policing philosophy. Community and Police partnerships are of very high priority from within. National Night Out is a great opportunity for us to get outside in a social setting with the very citizens whom our Officers are sworn to protect and Firefighters are sworn to rescue.
Best regards,
