Brief summary of
meeting:
A big Thank you to Any
Nugyen for hosting this Property Tax discussion and introducing Tarrant County
legislation to have a possible 5% to 20% exemption on Tarrant County / Tarrant
County Hospital property taxes, hopefully it will pass. We became aware during
the meeting that the County Commissioners (5 of them) have control over just
18% of the property tax.
The other 82% of
property taxes are, 5% Tarrant County College, 24% City of Arlington, and 53%
Arlington ISD, which is not controlled by the County Commissioners. So the
resolution of property taxes will largely fall on the ISD, the State of Texas,
and the City of Arlington.
Senate Bill 2 will
just restrict the ability of increased taxes, not reduce.
