Message from the Mayor of Arlington Texas...

 Dear Arlington Residents,

As many of you heard last week, Governor Abbott has announced that most of Texas will be able to loosen some COVID-19 restrictions starting this week. This includes allowing many businesses to increase their capacity from 50 to 75%. Governor Abbott also announced new guidance related to visitations at nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

This latest order is a testament to your hard work and vigilance during this pandemic. I want to thank all of our residents for doing such a great job wearing a mask, social distancing and practicing good hygiene habits. Because of your commitment, we’re starting to see the local and state economy get back on track. But there’s more work to be done.

For example, it’s important for all of us to make sure we continue to shop local. Small businesses are the backbone of our can-do spirit and we encourage everyone to support small businesses and restaurants across Arlington. And you can continue to order online for delivery and curbside pick-up at your favorite Arlington restaurants, even if dine-in is closed.

And we need to continue to help those in need and reach out to our neighbors and families who are hurting a little more right now. I continue to be incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by this community’s kind and generous spirit. Just last week, on North Texas Giving Day, you helped raise more than $2 million for Arlington nonprofits, which is an all-time record.

And coming up on Oct. 3-4, 2020, I’d like all of our residents to consider volunteering for one of dozens of community service projects identified across The American Dream City for the upcoming Unite Arlington weekend. During the Unite Arlington weekend service project, volunteers can participate in park clean ups, home repairs for seniors, school beautification and much more. And you can learn how to get involved on both the city’s website at
www.arlingtontx.gov/news and www.unitearlingtontx.org.

In the meantime, please continue to Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Healthy. Wear a mask and help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. As your mayor, I truly appreciate you doing your part to help us get back our economic momentum. Let’s remain #ArlingtonStrong, look out for one another and stay focused on our mission to defeat this virus together.

Sincerely,
Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams
