Run off election for at-large Arlington Tx City Council - early voting and election December 8th...

... Arlington TX has the best form of city government with 3 at-large city council seats and 5 single-member districts. This means that you the citizen are actually represented by 4 city council members at all times and have 4 members who you can talk to about issues important to each of us. The 3 members at large represent the whole city while the 4th member represents just the portion of the city for that district.

There is a run off election for one of the at-large city council places and your vote is important

Message from the Mayor of Arlington Texas...

 Dear Arlington Residents,

As many of you heard last week, Governor Abbott has announced that most of Texas will be able to loosen some COVID-19 restrictions starting this week. This includes allowing many businesses to increase their capacity from 50 to 75%. Governor Abbott also announced new guidance related to visitations at nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

This latest order is a testament to your hard work and vigilance during this pandemic. I want to thank all of our residents for doing such a great job wearing a mask, social distancing and practicing good hygiene habits. Because of your commitment, we’re starting to see the local and state economy get back on track. But there’s more work to be done.

For example, it’s important for all of us to make sure we continue to shop local. Small businesses are the backbone of our can-do spirit and we encourage everyone to support small businesses and restaurants across Arlington. And you can continue to order online for delivery and curbside pick-up at your favorite Arlington restaurants, even if dine-in is closed.

And we need to continue to help those in need and reach out to our neighbors and families who are hurting a little more right now. I continue to be incredibly grateful and overwhelmed by this community’s kind and generous spirit. Just last week, on North Texas Giving Day, you helped raise more than $2 million for Arlington nonprofits, which is an all-time record.

And coming up on Oct. 3-4, 2020, I’d like all of our residents to consider volunteering for one of dozens of community service projects identified across The American Dream City for the upcoming Unite Arlington weekend. During the Unite Arlington weekend service project, volunteers can participate in park clean ups, home repairs for seniors, school beautification and much more. And you can learn how to get involved on both the city’s website at
www.arlingtontx.gov/news and www.unitearlingtontx.org.

In the meantime, please continue to Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Healthy. Wear a mask and help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. As your mayor, I truly appreciate you doing your part to help us get back our economic momentum. Let’s remain #ArlingtonStrong, look out for one another and stay focused on our mission to defeat this virus together.

Sincerely,
Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams

Back the Blue for Arlington Police Foundation

As many of you know our 2020 Back the Blue Bash that was scheduled in March was canceled due to Covid-19. The Bash is the Foundation's only annual fundraiser.

We are reaching out today hoping that you will consider donating to us on Thursday, September 17th for North Texas Giving Day. We are excited to continue to support our youth programs. The Foundation has supported programs like MAY (Mentoring Arlington Youth), the Police Explorers, and PAL Camp. The Foundation also sponsors a scholarship through the Hometown Recruits Program. With your help we can continue to assist in funding these programs.

Our Police Officers need continued support. The Foundation will continue with the purchase of additional equipment on an as needed basis to help protect our officers. We continue to support the Honor Guard and new APD Recruits and their families.

Please visit our North Texas Giving page for more information regarding programs and how you can help!
